Reminder: Upcoming due date for ACA PCORI Fee

ACA PCORI Fee due July 31, 2019The PCORI Fee (Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute Fee) filing deadline of July 31, 2019 is fast approaching.  This fee was implemented as part of the Affordable Care Act and applies to an employer’s health plan. The PCORI fee is temporary and only applies for plan years beginning after September 30, 2012 and ending before October 1, 2019. This means that this year’s filing will be the final filing for plans on a calendar year.  The filing is made with IRS on Form 720.  For plan years ending between October 1, 2018 and 12/31/2018 the fee is $2.45 per covered life.

Which employers need to worry about this filing? If your health plan is fully insured, then you don’t need to do anything as your health insurer provider will take care of the filing and payment of the fee.  However, if you maintain a self-insured plan, the plan sponsor (normally the employer) is responsible for this filing and the PCORI fee. For any questions or more information on the PCORI fee contact Dave Reyes at 216-344-5233 or dreyes@maloneynovotny.com
