Chudyk Talks ESOPs at OEOC Conference in Akron

Northeast Ohio – Pete Chudyk, Principal with Maloney + Novotny will be joining an esteemed panel of experts at the 31st Annual Ohio Employee Ownership Conference on Friday, April 28th at Akron Fairlawn Hilton, Fairlawn, OH.  Participants at the conference will hear from keynote speaker Cindy Turcot, Chief Operating Officer of Gardner’s Supply Co, in Burlington Vermont.  Gardner’s Supply is the nation’s largest catalog and web marketer of gardening products who started their ESOP in 1987.  In 2009 they became 100% ESOP owned.

Pete’s presentation on Using the 1042 Rollover in an ESOP Transaction is one of 17 panels that provides participants the opportunity to learn more about topics ranging from the basics of ESOPs to more technical issues such as legal and fiduciary issues, acquisitions and financial aspects of ownership.  Widely regarded as the best one-day conference on employee ownership in the country, this annual event brings together owners, management and shop floor workers to learn how to improve the performances of their companies.

Pete joined Maloney + Novotny LLC in 1982, and was elected shareholder in 1985. Currently, Pete is a Principal in the Tax Consulting Services Group. Pete oversees the International Services Group and the relationship with Nexia International, a global network of independent accounting and consulting firms from around the world. He is both a CPA and an attorney.

Pete has more than 40 years of experience advising clients on accounting, business and tax issues. His client roster spans a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, import/export, oil and gas, chemical, professional services and publishing.

Pete has expertise in evaluation and implementation of employee benefit packages and the design of ESOPs and other qualified and non-qualified retirement plans. He assists clients with international taxation and treaties as well as estate and succession planning, revenue ruling requests and spin-offs. Pete has extensive experience in representation before the IRS.
