CLEVELAND, OH – February 15, 2011 – Maloney + Novotny LLC, an Ohio based regional accounting firm with three offices in Ohio, has announced the promotion of Sherri R. Bates to principal in the firm’s Cleveland office.

Sherri R. Bates, CPA joined Maloney + Novotny in 2007 and has been instrumental in developing the firm’s insurance practice. Sherri is an insurance management professional with over 20 years finance and marketing experience in health, life, and property/casualty insurance lines. Sherri also has extensive experience serving the not-for-profit sector. Her experience with not-for-profit clients centers around her expertise with Private Colleges and Universities and Private Schools.
Prior to joining Maloney + Novotny, Sherri was Director of Accounting for a large union insurance company where she served as the primary liaison with the Ohio Department of Insurance and the Investment, Governance and Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. Sherri also worked as the Market Segment Leader at Medical Mutual of Ohio, a regional $1.3 billion health insurer. Additionally, Sherri was a Senior Audit Manager at Ernst & Young where she directed audits of insurance and financial service companies, primarily for health and life insurance companies, property/casualty insurance companies, broker dealers and venture capital entities.
