Maloney + Novotny Adds Staff, Announces Promotions
CLEVELAND, OH – January 25, 2010 – This month, locally owned and managed accounting firm Maloney + Novotny added a new CPA and promoted four staff members to their growing operation.
NEW TO MALONEY + NOVOTNY:
Courtney Bedekar, CPA – Staff Accountant. Courtney joins Maloney + Novotny after working at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service for more than two years. At Maloney + Novotny, Courtney will focus her efforts on audit work. Specific areas of audits include not-for-profit, employee benefit plans and real estate. Courtney’s professional background in accounting, along with her strong interpersonal skills and client service focus compliment Maloney + Novotny’s already diversified audit team. Courtney is a 1998 graduate of Denison University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree. In 2006 she earned her Masters of Accountancy from The University of Akron. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants. Courtney lives in Canton with her husband Vikram.
PROMOTED AT MALONEY + NOVOTNY:
Jonathon Ruple, CPA – Senior Manager. Jonathon Ruple joined Maloney + Novotny in 2000. He was recently promoted from Manager to Senior Manager. In his ten years with the firm, Jon’s expertise has been targeted to servicing commercial and industrial, healthcare, educational institutions and other not-for-profit clients. Jon works with the coordination of tax services for clients, planning and organizing attest engagements, managing the progress of work, maintaining and expanding good client relations, suggesting and implementing tax planning ideas, performing research, and supervising staff.
He is a 1999 graduate of the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in accounting and finance. He is a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the Board of Vocational Guidance Services. Jon lives in Chardon with his wife Lynette and two children.
Dana Fay, CPA – Senior Manager. Dana joined Maloney + Novotny in 1999. She was recently promoted from Manager to Senior Manager. As a Senior Manager in the firm’s audit department she works with a variety of clients in such industries as manufacturing, distribution, construction and a number of not-for-profits. Dana is a graduate of Malone College where she earned a BS degree in Business Administration. Dana achieved her CPA in 1999 and has received numerous performance awards throughout her career. Dana is the Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee of Crown Point Ecology Center in Bath, Ohio and the Treasurer of the Hoover Alumni Band Association. Dana is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of CPA’s.
Lane Knore, CPA – Senior Manager. Lane has been with Maloney + Novotny since 2006. He was recently promoted to Senior Manager from Manager. With more than 14 years of experience, Lane is primarily focused on tax compliance, planning and compilations. Lane also specializes in payroll processing and strategic planning and provides business advisor, budgeting and consulting services for individuals, corporations, partnerships and s-corporations. Lane serves clients in a variety of industries including commercial and industrial services, medical practices, professional services, real estate, construction, wholesale and distribution and not-for-profits.
Prior to joining Maloney + Novotny, Lane worked for a Big Four firm where he gained extensive expertise in audit and tax matters. After four years, Lane left to start his own firm specializing in accounting, investments and insurance. Lane takes a proactive approach with his clients looking at ways to improve cash flow by reducing taxes. He is a well-respected business advisor in the community.
Lane graduated Summa Cum Laude from Miami University. Lane is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants. In the community, Lane currently serves as the Treasurer of the Athletic Charitable Committee and Assistant Varsity Football Coach for Northwest High School (Stark County) as well as a Code Red Volunteer for Northwest Local Schools. In addition, Lane is a member of the Trinity Church UCC Financial Committee. Lane lives in Canal Fulton with his wife Kiersten and sons Thad and Blake.
Beth Hensley, CPA – Senior Accountant. Beth joined Maloney + Novotny in 2009 as a Staff Accountant and was quickly promoted to Senior Accountant with the firm this year. Beth has experience in providing audit, review, compilation, tax and business advisory services. Her experience includes audits of colleges, high schools, country clubs, health care facilities, insurance companies, foundations, religious organizations, and employee benefit plans. Beth serves clients in a variety of industries, including nonprofit, commercial & industrial, and oil & gas. Beth graduated cum laude from Miami University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy. She passed the CPA exam in 2009. Beth is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.
