Ethics Seminar “Conduct Beyond Reproach” November 1st

Ethics Seminar, November 1st - Maloney+NovotnyMaloney+Novotny Ethics Seminar “Conduct Beyond Reproach” will be held on Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza 6500 Doubletree Ave. Columbus OH 43229 with a reception to follow. Attendees can earn 3 hours of required ethics training (CPE for CPA’s only) for attending the complete session.

Laura Hay from the Ohio Society of CPAs will present the ethics training program to help you gain perspective on applying an ethical decision making framework to issues facing finance professionals on a daily basis.  Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the core ethical factors attributed to the finance profession
  • Identify the steps required in the ethical decision making process
  • Describe factors contributing to ethical drift
  • Describe the relationship between ethics and risk management

Lorain County Economic Summit

Family Business Forum May 3rd

OSCPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Conference

Dave Reyes, Shareholder at Maloney + Novotny will be speaking at the Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA) Employee Benefit Plan Audit Conference, Leading Practices for Pressing Issues at Lewis Center in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, April 26, 2017.  Dave will be speaking on Tax Compliance Issues as part of a full day of presentations on leading practices for dealing with the complexities of benefit plan audits.

Dave Reyes, CPA, CEBS, joined Maloney + Novotny LLC in 1986 and became shareholder in the Tax Consulting Services Group in 2000. He specializes in the areas of employee benefit plans and tax-exempt organizations. Dave has been involved in assisting clients in all aspects of their employee benefit plans including qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and cafeteria plans. His extensive experience includes qualification, compliance, planning opportunities and IRS and Department of Labor examinations.

Dave also works closely with the firm’s not-for-profit practice dealing with 990 filing and tax issues. Consequently, Dave has a significant amount of experience with retirement plans specific to not-for-profits, such as 403(b) and 457 plans. In addition, Dave devotes a portion of his practice to individual tax and tax returns of trusts and estates.

Nonprofits Critical Importance of Cybersecurity

Non-profit Cybersecurity Seminar

Accounting for leases, which always has been a complex area, is undergoing a significant change with the release of the new standard by FASB. The new standard will result in substantial changes in the presentation as lessees will begin to recognize the assets and liabilities for operating leases on the balance sheet. Management will be faced with new accounting and disclosure requirements including new considerations when making business decisions related to leasing transactions overall.
