Senior Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is located in the Maloney + Novotny Worthington and Delaware, Ohio offices.

Responsible for leading a profitable functional area of the practice – leading the team, building the business and ensuring the team delivers exceptional client service. This role also supports the business development and growth initiatives of the practice and is responsible for retaining talented people through strong leadership and coaching/mentoring relationships.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines assignment performance expectations and structures teams to meet these expectations.
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of the firm, the people and the services they provide and the firm’s clients.
  • Supports the partner team in the development of the business plan.
  • Develops strong relationships with key stakeholders within the firm.
  • Identifies and manages risk factors.
  • Leverages resources to achieve maximum profitability.
  • Works with the partner team to identify, research and cultivate client targets and manages proposal initiatives.
  • Scopes, plans and manages assignments for maximum profitability.
  • Takes a strategic view of consulting work.
  • Reviews and confirms assignment objectives scope and work plan with the client.
  • Manages a number of responsibilities in the face of competing priorities.
  • Anticipates and identifies complex assignment issues and co-operates closely with the assignment partner or other firm experts in resolving them.
  • Develops assignment budgets for review by the assignment partner and monitors realization, utilization, and accounts receivable progress.
  • Improve realization on client engagements.
  • Total hours goal of 2,400 hours.
  • Total chargeable hours goal of 1,550 hours.
  • Spends considerable time business development opportunities and people development initiatives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance.
  • Must have their CPA.
  • 12 to 15 years of progressive audit experience in public accounting or related field.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Has a thorough knowledge of systems and processes within their discipline and is able to utilize resources to apply them.
  • Has a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the firms systems, processes and services and is able to utilize resources to apply them.
  • Applies thorough knowledge of the firms systems and processes and is proactive in seeking opportunities to sell services.
  • Has a good understanding of the prevailing business environment and the opportunities it may create for consulting opportunities.
  • Is alert to subtle “buying signals” for services outside areas of expertise and refers them to the appropriate person.
  • Generates, pursues, and supports the partner team in closing, sales.
  • Is able to identify client decision criteria/triggers and integrate these into the proposal process.

Audit Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is located in the Maloney + Novotny Worthington and Delaware, Ohio offices.

Responsible for managing client assignments and projects, delivering a high quality service. This includes coaching, advising, and supporting team members in meeting clients and self-development expectations. Manager’s direct field work on financial statement audits and accounting engagements, monitor progress of engagements in relation to budgets and due dates. Managers are also responsible for client relationships within their area of expertise and for clients assigned to them.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understands performance expectations and leads and manages teams to meet these expectations.
  • Has a strong understanding of the firm structure, the people, the services they provide and the firm’ clients.
  • Aims to exceed an effective utilization rate and monitor the progress of assignment teams in the achievement of utilization rates.
  • Is aware of client targets and proposal initiatives across the firm and contributes to the sales/proposal process.
  • Leverages resources to achieve maximum profitability. Actively participates in initiatives to recruit talented people including participating in career and recruitment forums, conducting interviews, and providing time to speak with potential recruits
  • Regular and reliable attendance which includes the necessary hours to meet client demands during various busy seasons.
  • Plans, organizes and controls multiple responsibilities and resources to meet assignment objectives.
  • Provides team direction to ensure assignment quality standards are met.
  • Manages the assignment budget, anticipates and communicates budget issues, identifies opportunities to improve assignment profitability, prepares billings and assists in cash collections.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Seven years minimum of progressive audit experience in public accounting or related field.

  • Is able to identify the key stakeholders in a decision making process and develop working relationships.
  • Has the ability to negotiate and persuade clients with integrity and communicates effectively in the sales process – ensures clients have the information they need to make decisions.

Senior Tax Accountant

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is located in the Maloney + Novotny Worthington and Delaware, Ohio offices.

Responsible for organizing and managing client assignments and projects, including the completion of assignments and tasks and project components as well as coaching, advising and directing team members in meeting client and self-development expectations.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review various tax returns – individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns and make recommendations and decisions to address client needs.
  • Ensure the accuracy of tax provision and tax returns including the documentation supporting tax positions
  • Conduct tax research and provide effective solutions for management
  • Supervise and provide assistance to tax staff
  • Prepare quality tax planning and practical approaches to client’s particular tax needs and situation.
  • Provide advice that enables the client to increase profitability.
  • Maintain and develop business relationships with our clients.
  • Assume additional responsibilities and perform special projects as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.
  • Basic knowledge of tax provision and tax compliance.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of two years of tax experience in a public accounting firm.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills a must.
  • Excellent organizations/analytical skills.
  • Organized and flexible – ability to manage multiple projects/assignments, while meeting deadlines.
